Million Artist Movement and Don't You Feel It Too? invite you to our winter Bootcamp + Retreat at Clouds in Water Zen Center. Inspired by the energy and community around Rev. angel Kyodo williams’s visit last fall, we continue our liberation studies and self-care. Learn from Resmaa Menakem about mending self and society from trauma and white-body supremacy.
WHEN: Saturday, Feb 3, 10AM to 6PM; and Sunday, Feb 4, 2PM to 6PM.
WHERE: Clouds in Water Zen Center is in the Rondo neighborhood of St. Paul, 445 Farrington St. 55103, two blocks from the Green Line.
DONATION: There is a suggested donation of up to $100 for this 2-day experience.
WHAT: We’ll be dancing, doing sitting meditation, learning from healer Resmaa Menakem and his book My Grandmother's Hands, enjoying the music of Passed Presents, sharing food, and being in community.
Your Participation:
■ We prefer participants attend the entire workshop. If you can come only on Saturday, please commit to the whole day. There is no attendance for Sunday only.
■ We want to do everything we can to make this experience accessible. We will help look for shared rides and offer child care.
■ We encourage you to read some or all of Resmaa's book ahead of time. Here is a copy of the Introduction, and Chapter 1 with permission from the author. Check back for YouTube links of us reading passages from the book.
What to Expect:
■ Clouds in Water is a Zen Buddhist Center. That said, our event is not religious. We hope the peaceful environment will support your learning and self-care. There will be short sessions of sitting meditation. Beginners to meditation are very welcome.
■ We will lead a 45-minute session of Don’t You Feel It Too? dancing. IMPORTANT: Please bring your best pocket music and earbuds. If you don't have earbuds or forget, we will have extra. To find out more about that, check out the video.
■ We will serve a vegetarian lunch on Saturday.
